COVID-19 has prompted huge demand for bikes and e-bikes, with Europe expected to sell 10 million additional bikes per annum by 2030. Data from 2016 suggests 12.6m bikes were manufactured in Europe, and in 2020 Brompton sold 70,000 bikes all manufactured in the UK. This trend is only expected to rise as cycling becomes an increasing part of our climate response.

With demand building and lead times on components increasing, UK Bike Manufacturer Frog Bikes, based in Wales are keen to explore supply chain options with Scottish manufacturing businesses. In partnership with Scottish Enterprise, The Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland and Frog Bikes, we want to help them form a short list of potential suppliers in Scotland and want to extend the invitation to our members who may be interested in getting involved with this exciting opportunity.

From the above video, typical manufacturing requirements include: CNC machining; Additive Manufacturing; Powder Coating; Welding; Bending; Casting; Fabrication; Composites.

Join our upcoming webinar on Thursday, 9th December 2021, 9-10am for a more in-depth discussion of the typical manufacturing essentials and components Frog Bikes require from suppliers. The details of components that Frog are interested in can be found here. If you are keen to hear if your business has the capabilities that Frog are looking for, then register for this webinar today.

Companies interested in taking this to the next stage are invited to complete a Scottish Supplier Questionnaire to give Frog and ourselves an idea of your skills and expertise. If you could complete and submit it before Thursday’s event, this will be useful.
