Employers will be legally required to 'auto-enrol' eligible employees into a pension scheme, which meets certain minimum standards, known as a qualifying scheme. Employers will also have to pay contributions into the scheme on behalf of employees. This new legislation is being rolled out over the coming years, starting with very large employers in October of this year.
All employers will need to know their expected 'staging dates', identify which of their workers are affected, consider whether they can meet their duties with an existing scheme, be prepared to make contributions, prepare systems for employee opt-outs and register with the Pensions Regulator.
Safeguards will also be introduced to protect individuals under the new legislation and those safeguards will come into force for all employers from July 2012.
The seminar aims to assist employers in understanding their duties, preparing for these duties and budgeting for the costs they will bring. |
