Scottish Engineering meet the Prime Minster, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England

Scottish Engineering and a group of senior executives from their member companies met the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon Gordon Brown MP, in Fife on Tuesday, 18th August 2009.

The Prime Minister congratulated Scottish Engineering on the excellent work they do in taking out a positive message on engineering, science and technology to students in our schools, colleges and universities.

He listened intently to the various points being raised from the senior engineering executives who were present, and they appreciated having the opportunity to speak directly with the Prime Minister during these challenging times.

 

Scottish Engineering meet the Secretary of State for Scotland


The Secretary of State for Scotland, The Rt Hon Jim Murphy MP was the keynote speaker at a Scottish Engineering Executive Committee dinner in September 2009.

The well-attended event attracted more than 30 committee members and guests who were able to give the Secretary of State first hand information about the concerns and successes that the manufacturing engineering sector was experiencing through the recession.

Mr Murphy listened attentively and took on board a number of issues that were aired during questions and discussion.

Scottish Engineering meet the Deputy Governor of the Bank of England

Scottish Engineering played host to a group of senior Bank of England executives at an Executive lunch on Wednesday, October 21.

boelunchoct09_editedCharles Bean, Deputy Governor, seated second right, Sir David Lees, seated second left and Rosie Smith, seated left, listened to concerns from members of Scottish Engineering's Executive Committee about current banking practices and how the current recession had affected the manufacturing engineering sector in Scotland. The bank representatives promised to feed the information into the Monetary Policy Committee discussions.

 

Dr Peter Hughes, Chief Executive of Scottish Engineering, seated right, had attended a dinner in Edinburgh the previous evening at which Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England addressed a select group of senior business executives.
