However, Apprentices will be encouraged and supported to continue their education to HNC level.
Applicants should have a minimum of 3 Standard Grades at Credit Level, preferably in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject.
They must also have an enthusiasm and aptitude for learning and be able to work as part of a team.

PRE-APPRENTICE ENGINEERING SVQ LEVEL II - PERFORMING ENGINEERING OPERATIONS (PEO) - FULL TIME Who is this course aimed at?
There are a number of key disciplines in the Engineering sector and it is often difficult to choose the one which is right for you. To help you make the correct decision, Pre-Apprentice Engineering is a first level course which gives you the chance try out all the different areas before making that important career choice.
What entry requirements will I need?
Standard Grade Maths, credit or general, Science or equivalent preferred. Consideration will also be given on an individual basis to those with relevant experience.
How and where will I study?
The Engineering Department at the main Arbroath campus.
What will I study on this course?
A very practical and hands on course where you will be able try Motor Vehicle, Welding, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In addition to all the practical work, you will also learn the supporting theory, important in all engineering employment areas, including, Literacy, Technical Drawing, Numeracy, IT, Health and Safety.
Job and progression routes?
This is a SVQ Level 2 qualification which forms the first step of the Modern Apprenticeship and can lead to either Higher NC programmes in Motor Vehicle, Electrical Installation, Welding and Mechanical Engineering or to complete an engineering apprenticeship.
